  • Overview of Midtown

Midtown is a neighborhood where modern is in. It sits along Boston Common, on the eastern side. The area has undergone recent changes to revitalize what was once one of the most popular areas in the city. The neighborhood is very compact and includes the thriving Theater District. When spanning from one side of the neighborhood to the other, you start with the W Hotel and travel along until you reach the Ritz-Carlton. The two high-end hotels and residences are located at both ends of a very quaint, walkable neighborhood that is both luxurious and comfortable.

Because it is located in the very heart of the city, most residences are in the form of luxury condominiums and lofts that have been newly renovated. Most multi-unit buildings are manufacturing and office buildings from the late 1800’s that have been re-purposed to bring them up to date and more in line with the modern requirements associated with luxury living.

Midtown takes up part of what was formerly known as Downtown Crossing and boasts some of the best theaters and restaurants in the area. Boutique hotels are also nearby and blend in well with the larger, more prestigious hotels. Millennium Place, Millenium Tower, and 45 Province Street are just a few of the condominiums that were designed with modern living in mind.

Midtown is within walking distance of the 50-acre Boston Common. Boston Common is just one of the many parklands that create Boston’s famous Emerald Necklace. It is one of the most historic of all the local landmarks and is served by the three main MBTA bus lines (green, red, and orange). The beautiful parks, luxurious condominiums, and apartment homes make it one of the more popular choices for young professionals who want to live close to downtown.

The ability to live and work in the same area is appealing to both young and old alike. The older generation can retire in style in any of the prestigious hotels/residences in the Midtown area. The younger generation is drawn more to the lofts and studio apartments that are small enough to accommodate someone who is starting out, but large enough to provide a comfortable living area with all of the amenities and features they desire.

The Midtown district is also an active financial hub that sits close to the many of the Downtown Crossing shopping centers. Residents who live in the Midtown area can easily walk to any of these nearby locations during the day. At night, a short walk puts them in the heart of the theaters and restaurants where they can relax and share a delightful night, out on the town with friends or family. The Midtown area is still evolving and growing into what could be one of the more affluent and luxurious areas of the city.
